Technical inspection via mobile app

As it was done before

The inspectors made paper notes on the spot and then documented the construction defects with a camera. The minutes were only drawn up later, in the office: the paper notes and photos were manually recorded in a document approved by the project managers in several email exchanges. Recording defect-related data in the project management system involved extra administrative work. This process was not only time-consuming, but also often error-prone.

This is what happens today

The process has been fully digitised using the Technical Inspector App:

  • Location identification is done with the built-in geolocation feature, ensuring that data is recorded for the right project.
  • Using the mobile phone camera, images of defects are taken and annotated. If a photo doesn’t turn out right the first time, it can be easily deleted.
  • Once the data is captured, a robot automatically generates a report that can be approved via Microsoft Teams or email.
  • The project manager views and approves the report, after which the robot automatically records the data in the project management system via the user interface.
